Summer/Autumn 2023

Late June sees the inaugural session for the Ealing Wind Orchestra - Saturday June 24th at the University of West London. Do get in touch if you would like to come and play.  We are hoping to set up properly in the Autumn but we do need the numbers...

UPDATE - it is official. Ealing Wind Orchestra will launch in October 2023.  Click here:

And July sees a wonderful two day stint with the Hertfordshire County Wind Sinfonia.  I cannot wait to see them all again.  We have lots of lovely repertoire lined up.

September sees a visit to the Royal College of Music where I look forward to conducting the wind orchestra in some Anthony Barfield, Bruce Broughton, Jennifer Higdon, Peter Graham and Imogen Holst. The perfect start to the term. Woooohoooooo!

Saturday June 11th saw a visit to the extraordinary outdoor arena at Hollycroft Park in Hinckley witht eh Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra.  The first half reprised some of the film-themed repertoire from April.  Whereas the second half focussed more on "Last Night of the Proms" type music.  The orchestra played some Arnold, Walton, Henry Wood and of course Elgar.  It was a great event and really well attended.  A terrific first "muddy field" experience for the students too. Here are some pictures, taken by Ted Cottrell for HBBC:

April 2023

It was such a privilege to be part of the UK premiere of the Anthony Barfield Heritage Concerto for Euphonium. Stephen Parker was absolutely stunning as the soloist and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra were on scintillating form.  The second half comprised music with a "movie" theme and we finished with Peter Graham's epic "Metropolis 1927" in its' wind orchestra arrangement.  It was incredibly exciting.  All the solos were immaculate and the percussion section were immense. Congratulations to everyone and I look forward to seeing you in Hinckley Park in June! Below we have a heroic soloist and a happy composer.
